Final Project [Unreal Development Kit]

Here it is - the final blog post for my Advanced Interactive Audio course! Throughout this post, I'll be describing my process for the creation and implementation of sounds into a custom made map in the Unreal Development Kit. The map was actually made by another student for the purpose of lending it to our class for this final, which makes it even cooler. Anyways, bear with me because this is going to be a long post.

To begin, I've put together a gameplay video (using fraps on PC, hence the www.fraps.com text at the top of each video) demonstrating a bunch of the different sounds  I did, so check it out first.

Some More Sound Design

Here's some extra practice. The task was to utilize a few provided samples of propeller planes and helicopters to create a sound for something. It could be a vehicle, an environment, an effect, ANYTHING! So where to start?

Then I recalled a futuristic three-wheeled vehicle design done by a concept designer and good friend of mine by the name of Jedd Chevrier. While he specializes in environmental and character design, his automobile concepts are, nonetheless, excellent. This vehicle obviously does not exist in today's world (at least to my knowledge), so it doesn't have any characteristics besides a still photo. Worst of all, it makes no sound - yet. So I figured this would be a pretty good start.

Dialogue Overview [Unreal Development Kit]

This here is a video post demonstrating some of the latest work I've done in class. It begins with a level composed of a few mazes and simple puzzles, which you can see if you watch the video below. The objective was to implement sound (dialogue) in the level that would be triggered once you reached certain spots. Check it out real quick!
